00 Diamonds are happy to present this season’s emerald
jewellery collection.
Emerald is said
to be the most precious stone in the beryl group. Its wonderful colour is owned to impurities of chromium and vanadium. Most
commonly emeralds are found in wide range of green colour, however, very rarely they can also be found in other shades –
for example Red Emeralds, which are extremely rare. Emeralds need to be handled with care, as they are not as hard as for
example rubies or diamonds, but thanks to their stunning colour they make an unparalleled gemstones for any jewellery piece.
Unlike diamonds, which are mainly
valued for their complete purity, all emeralds are different and individual. They are also judged for their brilliance, clarity,
colour and weight, but here the presence of inclusions is also very important as it distinguishes natural emeralds from synthetic
ones and reflects the influence of geological processes that formed the stones.
Historically emeralds were believed to ensure their owner faithfulness and unchanging
love and were thought to enable the wearer to forecast events. Incas and Aztecs from South America, where the most beautiful
emeralds are still found today, regarded the emerald as a holy gemstone.
Today emerald is most commonly known as a birthstone for May and as a gem commemorating the 20th and 35th
wedding anniversaries.
